Development of a Powder Injection Molding Process for Ceramic-Metal Joints

This paper presents the development of a metal-ceramic bilayer structure using co-injection molding. The three different types of powders, i.e. SUS316L, Zirconia and metal-ceramic composite, were mixed with the binder system through a twin-extruder mixer. A method for two-step injection molding to produce layered structure has been developed. The binder was removed by solvent and thermal debinding procedure. The sintering process was conducted in vacuum atmospheres. Finally, the results were confirmed the interface between the buffer layer using SEM.
